The Master’s program is interdisciplinary and comprises the fields of environmental geotechnics, applied geosciences, environmental protection technology, analytical safety assessment and geoinformatics. In this professional environment, the spectrum of causes, mechanisms of action and effects is extraordinarily broad and cannot be fully addressed in a single program. For this reason, the new study program concept concentrates on the following specializations and offers the option of deepening the knowledge:
- Geotechnical engineering
- Management and disposal of radioactive waste
This is based on joint courses (approx. 67%) in the fields of applied geosciences, measurement and evaluation technology, geo risks, geo modelling and economics.
An important aspect of the education is the practical activity of the student during his studies. A number of internships (e. g. in geochemistry, geotechnical metrology, petrography and geoinformatics) have deliberately been included in the study program. In addition, the aim is to have the project or student research project as well as the master’s thesis awarded and processed in cooperation with companies, authorities and research institutions.
