The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers three different courses of study:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Sales Engineering and Product Management
- Environmental Technology and Resource Management
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the university is one of the largest engineering research institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. It has state-of-the-art equipment on a laboratory area of approx. 12,000 m² and thus enables a practice-oriented training of engineers in the fields of conception, design and sales of products as well as the development and operation of machines and production plants – be it in the area of general cargo production or energy and process technology. In addition to teaching, four institutes with 23 subject areas are dedicated to a large number of theoretical and practical research projects in the above-mentioned fields.
The professional fields of scientifically trained graduates in mechanical engineering are very diverse. They can be employed in all technical areas of industry, both in research and development and in production, maintenance, quality assurance, sales, leadership and management, consulting, service and as consultants, assessors, test and inspection engineers.
