The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is strong in research and unique in teaching. The researchers and learners consciously look beyond the boundaries of their own subject. State-of-the-art laboratories and the short distances of a campus university enable interdisciplinary cooperation, the success of which is reflected in clearly defined research focuses and a comprehensive range of courses. The faculty offers six modern courses of study in a tiered, European Bachelor’s/Master’s system, which in this form and orientation are only available here. In addition, the faculty is also involved in the Applied IT Security continuing education course in cooperation with the isits AG (isits International School of IT Security). isits has for years been making headlines with counterfeit electronic cards, worms & viruses, attacks against popular Internet sites, hacker attacks in the computers of companies and institutions and cyberterrorism. About almost any network administrator can report an attack from this system. Security is therefore of great importance in almost all future IT applications, and there is a large gap in the number of skilled employees. So far, there are almost no training courses in IT security at universities. The ITS course is one of the few courses that combine IT security with a strong engineering education in addition to IT content. The career prospects for today’s new students are excellent.
