Today it is one of the largest universities of the country. Mining and steel production came to an end and in the 1960s, the Opel car production began and offered jobs for miners who had lost their jobs in mining. Today it is a modern city with a job focus in the service sector. It has many parks, museums and events.

The aim of the Master’s program is to impart knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and information technology in order to be able to carry out complex engineering activities independently and responsibly. The Master’s program thus leads to a professional qualification, which is necessary for participation in research and development with leadership responsibility. It also imparts the necessary knowledge for scientific work at doctoral level.
The Master’s program is determined by one of the following main areas of study. These study focuses are interdisciplinary and offer a study of choice in one of the modern research and development directions of electrical engineering and information technology:
- automation technology
- electromobility systems
- energy system technology
- high-frequency sensors and systems
- communication technology
- medical technology
- plasma technology.
Those who pass all exams receive the title Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
