Linguists learn certain methods and analytical procedures that they apply during their studies. The institutes of German, English and Romance languages and literature are involved in the interdisciplinary course. This will give you the opportunity to attend seminars of the German, English, French and Spanish languages. You will also have the opportunity to improve your English skills and learn other foreign languages. At the beginning of your studies, however, you should already have a very good knowledge of English, as some seminars are held in English and English texts are read.
In the Bachelor’s program in Linguistics you will not only attend seminars and lectures on linguistic content. To help you find your way into your studies better at the beginning, choose courses on scientific work and occupational orientation in the so-called Orientation Modules (OM). You also have the opportunity to create your own individual profile. In the profile module (PM) you can select events outside your subject area. Would you like to learn more languages or are you interested in people and society or gender and diversity? Do you find natural sciences and technology exciting as a contrasting program? In the profile module you have the space to try yourself out. There is also the opportunity for a stay abroad as well as for an internship. There are people at our university who can help you with words and deeds.
