The interdisciplinary Sales Engineering and Product Management course combines two-thirds of the technical content of the mechanical engineering course with one-third of the non-technical content. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering works closely with other departments, e. g. the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics, in order to achieve this goal. Therefore, this cooperation serves the qualification in the areas of management, operations and staff management, as well as law.
In the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, the sales engineers of tomorrow learn technical knowledge as well as so-called soft skills e. g. presentation techniques and other psychologically based sales strategies, in order to sell products and services in a targeted manner. These competences combined with technical knowledge, aim exactly at the present need for qualified new generation and therefore the course of studies is at the pulse of the time. The proximity to industry is a central component of the course. Both lecturers at their events and guest speakers from various companies, who are invited to regular rounds of talks, continuously establish a current relation to practice and combine this with theory.
After a standard period of study of seven semesters, the students obtain the Bachelor of Science degree. This enables graduates to enter professional life or enables them to complete a three-semester Master’s program. With the Master of Science degree, graduates have the opportunity to complete a doctorate.
